How To Make Your Own CBD Bath Bomb?

Published: 28-09-2021

Are you looking for a more unique way to enjoy CBD? Our guide on how to make CBD bath bombs is what you need to go through. With CBD bath bombs, you don’t only enjoy a soothing, therapeutic bath. CBD bath bombs also offer incredible CBD effects.

There plenty of components to add to bath bombs and methods for making the best bath bombs. To introduce you to these interesting CBD products, we’ve shared a standard foolproof guide for CBD bath bomb recipes to get you started on creating these CBD gems.

How To Make CBD Bath Bombs

As mentioned above, there are plenty of ways and recipes for making CBD bath bombs. Generally, bath bombs are described as hot fizzy spherical and small sized additives added to your bath.

When dropped in water, they create a fizzy sensation and infuse into the water for a soothing and therapeutic effect. Infused with CBD, these bath bombs create an out-of-this-world experience. CBD bath bombs offer the relaxing and rejuvenating benefits of both CBD and bath bombs.

CBD bath bombs come in different smells and contain varying ingredients. However, as with standard bath bombs, they also have key ingredients you cannot substitute. These include;

Key Ingredients

The three main ingredients of bath bombs are baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch. When baking soda and citric acid in bath bombs come in contact with water, the result is the fuzziness we see. This is because, during this reaction, carbon dioxide gas is produced.

The gas is what creates the bubbles in the water for that delightful fuzz. The cornstarch, on the other hand, helps to slow down this reaction for a long lasting soothing effect. The cornstarch is what prevents the bath bomb from quickly dissolving – allowing the bath bomb to last as long as 3 to 5 minutes and not seconds.

Epsom salt

Epsom salt is also a key ingredient in some bath bombs. Epsom salt offers many benefits to the skin. These include promoting sleep and stress reduction, enhancing magnesium levels in the body, treating constipation, as well as reducing pain, swelling, and improving exercise recovery.

Perfumes

Some bath bombs contain perfumes in the form of scented or essential oils. During the baking soda, citric acid, and water reactions, these perfumes are also released into the air as carbon dioxide bubbles. As the scents escape, you pick them up as soothing smells – whether you are using lavender or vanilla bath bombs.

Additional Ingredients

Furthermore, you can also add food coloring to your bath bomb mixture to give it the color you want.

Standard CBD Bath Bomb Recipe

As a general rule of thumb, to make bath bombs without any other infusion, flavoring, scent, or color, you want to mix a cup of baking soda, a cup and a half of citric acid, and a cup and a half of cornstarch in a large bowl. After mixing the three ingredients, add half a teaspoon of water to moisten the mixture so it can properly combine.

Then, mold the mixture into the shape you want – whether it’s a ball, star, or heart shape and let it dry overnight. Alternatively, you can leave the mixture with no water so you can use it in powder form. You can use several types of CBD such as CBD flower or store bought CBD oil to make CBD bath bombs.

When oil is used, CBD isolate is the most common type although you can also use full-spectrum or broad spectrum CBD.  The simplest method is to use CBD oil. To make the CBD bath bomb, start by mixing the baking soda, cornstarch, citric acid, and half a cup of Epsom salt (in fine powder). Then, add about ten to fifteen drops of essential or scented oil of your choice.

Popular therapeutic oils include lavender, peppermint, and eucalyptus. You can also add food coloring if you have a favorite color in mind. Lastly, add about two tablespoons of CBD oil and combine it with the mixture. Add about half a teaspoon of water a. mold the mixture into the shape of your choice, let it dry overnight, and you can enjoy the bath bomb during your next bath.
